Lechlade in the Cotswolds
page heading

Lechlade

A small attractive river side town set on the banks of the River Thames, Lechlade has much to offer the passing tourist.  Set on the eastern side of the Cotswold Water Park, Lechlade is a thriving market town.

Once a staging post, this town is now key for water activities and  the marina house berths for up to 60 watercraft.  Just further the riverbank the River Coln joins the Thames  as does the Thames Severn Canal.

Further downstream from the Halfpenny Bridge, you will find St John's lock a key navigational point on the canal.  Overlooking St John's Lock is a stone statue of Old Father Thames.

The 15th century church of St Lawrence provides a key focal point in the town with its tower and spire.  The church has many ancient artefacts and is well worth a visit.
